St Thomas is located 29km south of London, Ontario. In 1803 Thomas Talbot began to place settlers on a large tract of land he owned north of Lake Erie St Thomas, established c1810 was the capital of the settlement and named after the founder of the colony.
Port Stanley is located on the north shore of Lake Erie, some 10 minutes south of St. Thomas. Christ Church began as a mission of Old St Thomas Church in 1824.
The 4 point parish consists of St. Peter’s Church, West Lorne; Grace Church, West Lorne; Church of the Nativity, Dutton and St. Stephen’s Church, Burwell Park.
The first St John’s Church was built in 1869, before that services had been held in a school house.
St James Westminster, 115 Askin St, London, Ontario opened for worship September 7, 1873. At the time the church was in the Township of Westminster. London was across the river and had a population of about 18,000.
